Seen somewhere or other they're around approx R22500 but that was USA and in USD(which I had worked out to Rands)
Surely they will go wherever there's people who will pay for it to get there (and legal to have of course)
I think Osprey defence made the gas parts, or they make gas parts similar to the HK reliability that can be fired dirty etc...so if you want HK416 reliability on standard M4 type perhaps: http://gaspiston.com/ :PLast edited by 2282; 03-02-2010 at 19:12.

Unfortunately, not the case. The H&K products we get in SA is from Germany
and H&K Germany will not export assault rifles to SA, they are not interested in any civilian sales of military style rifles. The only way of obtaining H&K assault rifles in SA is to buy directly from them with a Government order.
The H&K products in the USA is from H&K USA and thus not subjected to the German restrictions. So the only way to get them is through the US and we all know what their feelings are towards exporting assault rifles. :a2

Perhaps "assault weapon" is not the best choice of words. Don't want to get the anti gunners panties in a tizz now.

100% correct. But the biggest problem that we face with regard to semi auto rifles is that all rifles having a detachable magazine and capable of firing with each pull of the trigger without having to be manually loaded and sort of resembles a "military firearm" is classed as a Assault Rifle, thus even firearms designed as "sporting rifles" are being treated as assault rifles ie Ruger Mini 14, H&K SL8 by the ill informed anti gun liberals. If the semi auto rifles weren't classed as assault rifles, we might have seen a much brighter future.

WRT to the 416 if I were to go the M4 route and we had a choice here of what we could get. I would far rather have a Colt than the 416. And the price difference would probably pay for an Aimpoint some Magpul Furniture and a pile of PMags.

I would personally acquire a LWRC M6A4, but the Colt M4 is also very very nice.
Saw a H&K 416 upper for $5600, WRT the MR 556, their parts including receivers are not interchangeable with other AR platforms but the HK416 is.
