7.62mm rounds
Hi there, hope all is well.
I would like to know in what caliber rifles can I shoot this ammo. It has a solid bullet and comes in a tin holder.
Thanks
Dries

If the tin is sealed and needs to be opened with a can opener, you might have a tin of 7.62x39 ammo which would work in a AK47 or SKS. If it's a brown metal tin with side latches and a removeable lid, it's most probably 7.62x51 NATO which is fine to shoot in .308 Win caliber rifles.

I will go and make 100 % sure, tin colour , how long, etc.
I do remember that on a piece of the big wooden box where all the small tin boxes were in that it said 7.62mm- roundball, but like I said i Will make sure.--BUSHBOY......UHM, it fell out of a aeroplane right on my head- ( like in the movie gods must be crazy--LOL )
Can I use it in the .303 ?
Phil, I do not see any tracers in the box........
Cheers

A .303 actual calibre is .311. The confusion comes in because of the difference in diameter when measured between the lands (.303") and the grooves in the barrel(.311").
The .308 calibre is a true .308" (7.8mm) calibre.
Note that there are some slight internal dimensional differences between a .308 Winchester cartridge and the military calibre, the 7.62x51mm, so the 2 cartridges are not identical in all aspects, but they can be interchanged.
In the case of the 7.62mm description, the 7.62mm is the diameter between the lands and the .308" (7,8mm) is the diameter between the grooves.
Now did that clear things up like a cup of mud?
