Interesting things here - very impressive Fallkniven, good value out of the Cold Steel and a bit dissapointing Chris Reeves.

The skimasked dude does point out that he does not consider his tests normal use of a knife, but the point is to see how much punishment it will take before failure.

All I can say with regards to the tough use of knives are, "A knife is the most expensive prybar you will ever own"

Destruction testing has its uses, it can show you easily enough the bad apples in a croop. While it tends to favour thicker knives (the highly rated Busse BM might be super tuff but in reality it is just an expensive prybar made out steel so secret that nobody else uses it) it does show the limits of heavily advertised trash. Besides Noss' videos are a blast.

I tend to think much of this stuff is just goofy and grandstanding at its finest...although the Chris Reeve Green Beret / Yarborough test was a shocker, I admit. I use an axe, a GI machete and at least two blades (pocket folder and fixed blade) for utility, and carry the sharpest Spyderco Endura folder I can find along with a small TDI for SD...works for me.

I owned a CRK Project I for a while and used it pretty hard for all the normal things you'd knife for, including batoning it through wood, and it held up fine. I did mess up the edge a bit by not using a proper back stop and hitting concrete like an idiot but I had it resharpened and recoated and for all I know its still giving good service. I would happily own another although I would prefer a plain edge all the way. I do think that the serrations are unneccessary and may contribute to some blade weakness.

I think its a damn shame that CRK's name was dragged through the mud by this yo-yo. Quite frankly its ludicrous to expect any knife to stand up to that kind of treatment.

That may be true BUT it does give some insight into how hard/tough a knife can be :)
