Odd call with CFR

Just gave CFR a call to check on the status of an application (08:15 26 May 2015).

In checking the status the chap asked me if the firearm was a semi auto rifle, which it is.

He then proceeded to mention that an additional endorsement was required and that I could fax it through to the CFR. In addition me mentioned that this was a new thing since March 2015.

I hold DSS with SADPA and NSA and included endorsements from both organisations in my motivations.

I am putting it down to a miss informed call center agent, but was curious if anybody else has heard a similar line from them recently.

So many threads regarding this these days. A few months ago there was a warning that this might happen, and now it seems CFR has got it in their heads that additional endorsements are needed for weapons. CFR is messing up badly.

He just said an endorsement from my shooting club, but could not provide further details.

Toxxyc, do you perhaps have further information regarding this? What was said?

The annoying part, which I mentioned to the CFR chap, was that my applications had been submitted prior to March 2015.
