Durability of Glock mags vs. CZ shadow mags.
Howdy,
Which mag is more durable? Most shooting ranges here have concrete floors, so magazines are going to to take a beating. Right now I am stuck between a CZ Shadow and G17 for Production. I really want the Shadow, but I have budgetary constraints and in that department the G17 wins hands down. A big part of my decision making process is the cost and replacement intervals of springs and magazines.

Would Production prevent you from gluing a piece of rubber to the floorplate?

Glock mags are cheaper, but I'll wager a guess just as hardy as CZ mags (steel, more prone to rust, not that I ever had that issue).
The Shadow is a funner gun out of the box (without any mods).
Methinks you just need to make a choice.

I would suggest you put some foam padding on base pads that you use at indoor ranges and then just put the regular pads back on if you are required to for competing. That should give your magazines sufficient protection.
With that being said I don't think that the durability of the magazines should be an indicator of which handgun to buy ... I think you are either over-complicating things or looking for a good excuse to buy the more expensive gun
Buy the gun you want and be happy for a long time rather than buying what you think you can afford now and ending up replacing it in any case ... been there and done that.

The Shadow is the baseline-reference Production gun for a good reason. Your situation is markedly different to "ours", in the sense that this will by no means me a backup SD gun or suchlike. Thus, you're buying to play the game. Buy the gun that's best for the game. Also, I'd wager once you've installed proper sights on the Glock, you'll be close to (though probably not "at" yet...) the Shadow's price anyway (judging by the ridiculously brilliant prices I've seen Shadows here, recently).
Not a bad problem to have ;-)

A new CZ Shadows here is €1149.00 which is slightly less than double that of the price of a Glock 17 Gen 4. (Depending where you buy)
Glock mags go for €20 where CZ Shadow mags go for €74 and the Mec Gar ones go for €39.
I am drooling over the Rescomp Shadow sale currently running. :-)
