    Default Sabatti Rover 30-06

    Hi.

    Very new to this site...
Just purchased a Sabatti Rover 30-06, submitted my license, waiting for that the be processed atm...

    Need to go "Scope" shopping.
Think ill go with a 3-9x40 scope, just not sure on brand to be looking at.

Don't want to spend more than R3500.
Any suggestions, based on experience with various brands....

Any feedback on the above mentioned rifle would also be greatly appreciated.

    Thx.

    The Hawk.

Something in the Nikon range? Have you budgetted for the rings and mounts? Another R1000 odd.
I would rather save a bit more a scope is a critical part of the setup and an investment in many happy years of shooting.

The Sabatti Rover is an excellent hunting rifle. I have one in .308Win and a friend has a few - a .338 WM, .270Win, .243Win, and a .222Rem in the Sabatti 600. Very good value and accuracy is superb.

As to scopes, I have a Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 on mine. The one I have has better resolution than my Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42 and on par with my Leupold VXII 3-9x40. I thought I was lucky with the Revolution, but my friend also bought the same model and the quality and finish of his is identical to mine. I also bought one in 2-7x32 with the same result

Can get the Redfield Revenge 3-9x42 4Plex (115208) for about R2800.

    Is that worth buying?

The Revenge is made in the east, the Revolution is still made in the USA.
There is a used Leupold VX1 on Guntree for R2500 - excellent value if it's still available! I also saw a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 there for R2200.

Leupold owns Redfield. The Revolution has better eye relief than the standard Lynx. The LX2 eye relief is better, but costs more.

Hawke Sport Optics Sport HD 3-9x40 AO Rifle Scope, Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle, 1/4 MOA, 1" Tube... Please let me know what your opinion is of this scope... And then the pro's and con's of going with a x40 vs x50mm lense...
