Re: 2015 Delville Wood Memorial Competition
Thank you for the write-up Camo.
It was a great competition and, as always, it was made possible by the selfless dedication and sponsorship of some individuals and businesses.
Sports Adventure Shooting would like to thank the following people who arranged and helped out on the day:
- Camouflage762: Match Director and Evil Genius who conceived it all.
- Mrs. Camouflage762: Admin and Scoring Assistant
- Mini Camouflage762: Admin and Scoring Assistant
- Mark Groome: Umpire & Senior RO: mark[at]365productions.co.za
- Grant9: Photographs
- Dirk777: Range officer & administration
Also a big shout-out to the following sponsors who gave time, funds and assistance and who made it all possible:
Tactical Quartermaster sponsored 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize monies - total R5000, the Score sheets and goodie bags for each participant & staff.
Sales[at]tacqm.co.za
ExecuBuild sponsored the Obstacle course, installation of Flag poles, Aerial Mast and clean up of range.
Plaashaas: gerhard[at]execubuild.co.za
CRB Jewellers: Sponsorship of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals, 8 Participant medals and 2 staff medals.
TracerLM: crb[at]iburst.co.za
Thank you all!Be ready for anything, and if his head is not at least two meters away from the body, do not 'assume' he is dead and out of the fight. - Ikor

Final Scores.
The competition ended on time and then the scoring/admin & taking down of structures began. The Braai fire was lit and cold beers opened…..

Regrettably there was a SNAFU on the scoring and this resulted in an error for 2 & 3rd place.

Kudo’s to Box for pointing this out at the expense of losing his place. I accept full responsibility for the error and thank all the competitors for their patience in getting it sorted.
Final Results were:
Final Rankings Points Place Staffy 104 1 PesVis 99 2 Honey Badger 98 3 BushBoy 97 4 Betoger 91 5 Box 90 6 Papa Hotel 90 6 DylanM 82 8 Plaashaas 82 8 Tracer 80 10 JS_4 77 11 Koosie 76 12 Newy 69 13 Cordite Crazy 65 14 Dick 62 15 Tooth Fairy 54 16

Some observations:
- The first 4 places were incredibly close; a single hit on target worth 2 or even 10 points could have caused a totally different result.
- Shooting at wrong targets & firearms not operating properly is always going to hurt! Make sure you ID your targets and know how your firearm works.
- Practicing Firearm basic skills & fitness will never go out of fashion!
- “All the gear & no idea” does not win competitions. This starts with the boots you are wearing to your rig, physical condition & firearm skills. Most of the competitors by this stage are familiar with their rigs and operating their firearms whilst under physical pressure. (Compare the results with the platform/sight system/bipod that the competitors used) Until you have actually tested yourself & your gear everything is speculation.
- Attitude: Well done to those who were having hassles but kept going/trying harder. Special mention to Cordite Crazy who had just finished a course of Antibiotics recovering from pneumonia!
- As Sas has evolved (this is our 5th DWM competition) we have learnt to weight the events so that they are not skewed in favour of shooting only, or physical condition only. It helps achieve a balance between the two and I think bodes well for the future.
Thanks to all who made this possible.
Cheers

Re: 2015 Delville Wood Memorial Competition
A big thanks for all the effort to Camo & co. It is some of the best fun I have ever had on a shooting competition and the spirit of all the competitors was very cool. I can recommend Sas to anyone who wants a challenge
