Re: DIY Tumbler
You should try some SS pins or similar together with the sunlight, water, tartaric acid combo... I have a rebel tumbler, and the pins clean the inside of the cases (gets the black carbon build-up out of the case).
Also results in shiny primer pockets if you run the cases with SS pins after they have been deprimed. Comes out looking like virgin brass.
Just a thought

Thanks for the reply. I have been wanting to try the same, but with a cordless drill laying around.

Re: DIY Tumbler
Good stuff. Similar to mine, but I used a wiper motor and drilled a hole in the lid with a full lid sized washer to seal it. Not a drop leaks out. I also tried to glue an agitator in which didn't hold so ended up fibre glassing it in. Perfect.
I use SS pins, sunlight dish soap, tartaric powder and white wine vinegar. I also use enough water to fill the container up to 2/3rds full. I tumble 100 cases at a time and very little noise. It sits on my loading bench so I don't want leaks or noise. Very happy with my cheepy DIY efforts.

Re: DIY Tumbler
Heads up:
Put boiling water into my tumbler, wasn't thinking really, anyway, the bottle distorted when it started to cool down, and the silicon was weakened hence it came apart at the back.
Quick fix, silicone it back, waited to set and used normal hot tap water. GTG again.

Re: DIY Tumbler
Hi shooty,
I've used car battery and an AC adapter with a new wiper motor and the motor runs extremely hot. Any advice suggestions are welcomed.
I've attached a picture of my attempt at a tumbler.

Kind regards

Re: DIY Tumbler
I've tried a few DIY tumblers and the one that is as DIY, simple and effective as I could possibly get it to be was to shake it with my hand in a container (old USN tub with agitators screwed into it). Took about 15 min and they come out clean and shiny. 5 to 10 min with a dryer after that and I'm ready to load. Not even worth posting pics coz its just that simple.
I'll admit that its not as shiny as with a tumbler (DIY or purchased) that I ran for 1 or 2 hours, but its good enough I promise you.
