Re: Are S&B primers harder?
In thousands of rounds of S&B factory FMJ in 3 calibres I have only had one stovepipe FTE ... and that was the G23 in urgent need of a new recoil spring, not the ammo.
Thousands and thousands of S&B LPP and SPP primers later, I almost never have any issues now that I've mastered correctly seating the primers - initial issues were all down to user error during seating.
Of course I had my first ever FTF on S&B SPP about 2 weeks ago .... 3 shots after bragging how I've never had any FTFs on S&B SPPs ironically. Just ask SAS
Upon inspection it was a primer protruding ever so slightly - missed during QC it was so slight. There are no stupid questions ........ just stupid people

Re: Are S&B primers harder?
@ 414Gates Mo at Sportingarms/Motech has plenty of these Muron primers.
Back to the OP
On the S&B primers I have loaded about 4400 for a Sig P250 and a CZ Shadow Zero primer failures.
500 38spl Rossi snubby Zero failures
400 40S&W Ruger?? my friend loaded on using my equipment Zero issues.
I have used about 500 Winchesters on 9mm reloads also no issues.
Compared to the Winchester ( i went from Winchester when I ran out of S&B with no stock available) i found the S&B is harder to seat. I hand primeLast edited by singh17; 22-06-2015 at 18:25. Reason: addressed post accordingly

Because the Winchesters are gooder. And the S&B ball was carried for a short period for a specific reason. And my match guns are sprung very lightly.
I've never had a misfire with Winchester in my reloads with properly seated primers. I have in a lightly sprung match gun with S&B

Re: Are S&B primers harder?
Probably approaching 10k-15k reloads using S&B
Can't remember a single FTF due to a dud primer. FTF due to questionable seating of a primer, maybe 1 or 2
414gates, I have 1000 Murom SPP if you want to swap for some S&B

Re: Are S&B primers harder?
Same here. Shot quite a bit of my reloads recently and the only issue was when I didnt properly seat the primer. Otherwise bang everytime.

Re: Are S&B primers harder?
No issues at all with S&B after about 2000 of reloads shot in GLOCK 19 and Z88. I don't know whether Barnaul make their own primers, but I had two (what I assume was) dead primers in 150 rounds of their non-reloadable 9mm factory ammo. After various strikes by two different guns, nothing happened. Primers eventually looked like Kimberley se Gat after all the firing pin strikes.
