    Default What sako ring heights for a sako 85 with a 3-9x40 leupold VX-R ???????

    Hi Everyone,

    I have just purchased a Sako 85 African Hunter 30-06 and would like some help with the following:
    1) what are the Leupold VX-R 3-9x40 or 4-12x40 scopes like?
    2) What sako ring heights will I need for a Sako 85 30-06 with the above mentioned scope to be placed on it ie: low, medium etc?

    on my 85 Hunter.
    I got medium Sako Optilok bases and rings.
    plenty room for a 50 objective scope (side focus).
    so go with low.

    You can get a 2.5cm scope ring on it.
    I have 25mm height scope rings for my Nikon Scope (42mm with 25mm tubes) for my Tikka. Afaik the 25mm rings are usable for up to 50mm scopes.

    I have Thor, low mounts on my 30-06. Still a lot of clearance available.

    Krobar that is awesome, wanted to get scope as close to barrel as possible.
    What is your guys opinion between the VX3 and VX-R?
