I must say, that is not bad news at all… A well proven design which will now be continuously upgraded with current technology (I hope!).

There are already several manufacturers producing 7.62x39 rifles, many on the AK platform. Patriot Ordnance, SIG, LWRC to name just a few.

Methinks this is just a fancy legal way for the Russkies to get around the sanctions. "Kalashnikov" is a copyrighted name after all and even though the patents on the rifles have expired by now, I doubt those on the Saiga 12 has.

This however still leaves the most important question unanswered - where the f*** are the cheap redirected Tigr, Dragunov and AK74M rifles?? Kalashnikov Concern had to redirect those failed US purchases SOMEWHERE and why the hell couldn't it be SA? Norinco got it right, so they have no excuse.

Kalashnikov Concern and 'cheap' can never be posed in the same sentence. I met with their reps at Huntex. They seem not to understand that their pricing is waaaay out there.

Cheap enough for ISIS, Boko Haram and Joseph Kony, but SA gets schnaaid on the price. Gotta love how the world works :D

Indeed. Seems they're still getting to grips with capitalism...
