Everything patterns well? Mine patterns well enough for SADPA with almost anything, but it prefers some loads to others. The Swartklip #7 and SSG pattern well, but the AAA does not.

Mine launches S&B Special Slug, NGA 3RN12SOA slug, Winchester Super X high brass 7 1/2's, Swartklip SSG Swartklip Super 7 1/2 70/32s, Eley Blues, Swartklip AAA, Eley First accurately in that order.

I have tried some other brands but was not impressed with them, and I haven't seen Super X in a while. Down to my last 5 rounds and keeping that for nostalgia :)

Pump-actions eat everything (as a rule), semis don't.

Patterning is different for everything though, so while your shotgun may eat it, effective range may differ.

My Grandmother thought this way too. After a savage beating she was walked to her safe, gun at the back of her head, and made to open it. Get your mindset together. If you still think your crystal ball shits gold then I bid you gooluck.

There are two 870's in the classifieds section. Great deals the both of them. One is standard, the other is kitted in Magpul goodies.

    Grab either of them.

If you live alone a shotgun is fine for SD. If you have a girlfriend, wife, children or whatever a shotgun is useless.
If one is taken hostage what will your tactic be to free them?

A shotgun would be the last thing I use. Get a pistol or a carbine and get trained.

Get trained before you come here, ask for help in a decision, and then ignore expert advice.

Many here have military and law enforcement or other training that makes them experts in these areas.

Kreiger, as much as I agree with you, the law here around "restricted" firearms for SD is rather onerous. Requiring damn good reasons and IIRC only applies for 2 years, so a carbine is out. A pump shotgun loaded with slugs could do the things you require but you lose on the capacity, user interface and recoil compared to a carbine.

A correctly selected shotgun/ammo combo can make hostage shots easier, but you need to know your gun and ammo intimately. Not something I want to be doing that is for sure.

Actually that is BS, you have no idea re. my training or background. I only asked for suggestions on a model of shotgun and whether getting a license for a 2nd shotgun was a realistic expectation. I did not ask for your advice on whether you or anybody else thought it was a good idea to have a pump action shotgun as a SD weapon. You have no idea as to what my predicament is or how my house is designed. You are therefore unqualified to dispense advice re. what type of weapon is the best for me.

Yeah. Because advice can only be dispensed after a full risk analysis of each individual has been performed.

QuQ, this is the internet. Ignore the posts you don't like, take what you need from the others. Getting on ye olde high horse helps you nothing.
