Friends of mine have a motion camera at a water point. They have photos of a warthog drinking milk from a cow.

In 2003 I arranged to meet two friends on one the friend's farm.

I pull in shortly after 6am and these okes look oes! So apparently they went out jackal calling the previous evening, but packed a cooler just in case.

So after an hour of Rammstein through the loud speaker not producing any jackal (and the rifle never leaving the its bag in the cab of the bakkie) they decided to get really sloshed (ah to be a student again)!

At around 2a.m. they heard the leopard grunting! But sommer hier around the bush! So they set off in the bakkie with the spot light looking for the spotted cat (no need to risk a well lunricated liver).

After driving around for a couple of minutes and this leopard constantly calling they finally get sight of...an impala ram grunting and snorting! Yep it was impala mating season!

This from two guys who grew up in the bush! All I could do after hearing their story was to crack each them a beer to start curing the hangover!

Funny yes I am sure. However alcohol and guns?Plus the jackal population I am sure are a lot more difficult to kill after a session like this.

Hence me posting a date with the story. The stupidity of youth.

I have an old book by Fitzsimmons from the early 1900's. It has a case of a python eating mangos from a tree.

Also saw a baboon playing swing with a Zebra's tail on 50/50.

This is a story I heard once on a hunting trip and by no means can confirm its authenticity.

Father and son go out walking with 1 rifle between the 2 of them. The son has the rifle the first time round. He is wearing inappropriate footwear and is wearing a type of sandal. He stops, hands the father the rifle and grabs the game fencing next to him.

He then does that shake thing with the one leg to loosen up a stone in his sandal.

The father thinking that the son is getting electrocuted by the fence promptly and swiftly uses the rifle as a club to dislodge the son from the fence. Breaking both his forearms.

True of not, it teaches you a lesson on proper footwear in the field...
