Default Appropriate choke for trap or trench

I know what the internet says regarding barrel length and shot spread, but when I take my shotgun to the range and pattern it at various distances, it spreads more than I am expecting. E.g. at 10 to 12 meters (or however long City Guns' indoor range is) my shot spread is right at the edge of what I would consider capable of busting a clay target. The gun currently has an Improved Cylinder choke, but I also have a Mod and Full choke. Should I just go full choke and see how it goes? Any other ideas? I'm shooting Eley #7.5 competition shells if that's important.

Depending on how fast you shoot, depends on the choke
Fast shooter could get away with a half choke, but the norm is 3/4 or full.
I always shot 3/4 choke in my Browning Gold Sporting Clays for trap and trench, Sporting was half choke, Skeet was the Skeet or 1/4 choke, depending on how I was performing

If you're shooting traps, then stick with IC. If you're shooting trench or sporting, use Mod or Full.

Spread doesn't break clays, pattern does. Look for the most evenly distributed pattern & forget about spread.
