    Default Aardvark afternoon.

My wife took these pics this afternoon at around 15H00 a kilometre or so from our house. There are plenty of aardvark on the reserve but we don't often see them by day.

Gentle giant . The two creatures I haven't yet seen - this guy and a Pangolin. Soon please, as I'm in Timbavati and Sabi Sands next month and Marakeli in Oct. Holding thumbs.

Have only ever found the spoor around my tent in Bots.

Must be quite something to see, thanks for sharing.

Very jealous!!! Such an odd- but beautiful creature!
It's amazing how when growing up, it's all about seeing the "Big 5" but once you've done that, you realise that it's the far more recluse that captivate your attention. I get excited even when seeing leopard tortoise in a reserve! Tortoise, Aardvark, Pangolin, Shrub hare, Porcupine, foxes, Caracal and Genet. Love them all!

I've seen all the species you mention, and see most of them regularly, except for the pangolin which I've only seen in a zoo. Maybe, one day.

I just came from a farm - In a bit of a dilemma , cause I will not break trust, but ya I am upset. Saw my first Aartvark - heard the shot a split second later and it was dead - farmer kills them on sight. Cody started wailing and I made a kak comment and the farmer started explaining himself from his side.
I am just going to walk away, but not happy about it all.

They are powerful, and thus unfortunately destructive.

My brother lost a grond dam when one decided to create a burrow into the sand from the back, enormous financial loss in water.
Still he don't shoot them on sight, he understands nature, lovely and powerful creatures.
I often describe them as one big ball of muscle.
