Wounded pensioner kills attacker

At about noon today an armed robbery took place and a suspect was shot dead in Schultz Street and a pensioner was shot in the stomach.


According to James Langeveld and his colleague Petrus Dladla of Apcan Security who were first on the scene, they heard on the radio that four shots were fired in the street in question. When they arrived on the scene the one suspect was allegedly lying dead on the pavement.


It is alleged the elderly woman came home after shopping when two suspects overpowered her just as she pulled into the driveway. They started assaulting her and her screams alarmed her husband who was inside the house. He ran outside with his firearm and was shot in the stomach by the suspect. He returned fire killing the robber. A second suspect fled in a white Citi Golf. It is unknown whether there were more suspects waiting in the vehicle.


Police and emergency services were on the scene while a police helicopter was circling above the area. The man and his wife were both transpoted to hospital.

I drive past this road about 3 times a day on my way to a friend, whose wife was hijacked a month ago just down the road in Kilburn. Keep your head on a swivel in Horison!

I think this time I might really take the old guy a bottle of Bells, if I can find out when he's back home.
