    Default Fallow Deer hunting opportunity...

    Good day to all Members.

A fallow deer is something I really want to hunt. It seems this type of animal is expensive to hunt and not readily available?

Is this assumption correct? I want to hunt fallow deer only for meat /table fair...

I really would like to hear from hunters whom have hunted this animal previously..

Where in Middelburg , Ermelo and colder regions on the High-veld are fallow deer available to hunt. What price levels am I looking at?

Info and contact numbers/detail will be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Gert

    Sorry I'm from Cape Town.

What I really want to mention though is that they are very nice to eat. Tricky to find. The one i hunted stood dead still till the last minute

Sorry, don't know the prices up north. I passed up a nice stag in Cookhouse, Eastern Cape about a month ago as he was just out of range. Price was R1000. My guess would be if you could make you way south into EC and look around Bedford, Cathcart etc you would find comparatively cheaper prices.....but the cost of travel, logistics might make it a hack.

Members , thank you very much, please keep the info coming...I really want to hunt this type of animal for table fair...contact details will be much appreciated. If there is any other member wanting to hunt fallow deer we can always organize a fallow deer hunt if we can find a place to hunt fallow deer.

Living in Hermanus, Western Cape - I’m also very interested in Fallow Deer. Contact details are highly appreciated. Hermanus is a lovely place but there is no decent hunting available nearby. Maybe I’m wrong?...

BP4Ever, the Napier - Bredasdorp area should have some fallow. All around Hermanus there should be oppertunities on Fallow. Look at the map in the study on ferals below.

Interesting about the is that in the 90's and early 2000's we sue to hunt them just past Laingsburg in Merweville area.
At that time for example the Springbuck was R16p/kg just meat, no skin.
The Takbok/Fallow Deer we were charged half of the Springbuck price at R8p/kg.
As the farmers did not like them on their farms.

Over the last 10 years or so people have realized how nice the meat is.
And the price has now caught up and is the same as Springbuck in the area.
Also now same as most areas where the skin and head is weighed for price.
