Whats wrong with Savage Rifles?
Good day
I sense a lot of negativity in general when the name Savage is mentioned. I kinda like the bear hunter models but a lot of people don't like them, with out providing proper reasons.
So why all the negativity regarding this brand, I wil surely consider one of these rifles down the line but would like to know why people are so divided on this brand.
Thanks

Re: Whats wrong with Savage Rifles?
I have a el cheapo savage axis 30-06
I have taken springbok, gemsbok and kudu with it, its light weight and with a decent shooter behind it very accurate shooting a sub 1 inch group at 100 yards with hand loads. I feel that there is nothing wrong with savage rifles

Re: Whats wrong with Savage Rifles?
I do not own a Savage yet, but have read a few things about them. Besides the somewhat ugly bolt (beauty is in the eyes of the beholder) the only other complaint I have heard is that the barrels are apparently finished somewhat roughly inside. But they are still known for excellent accuracy. S&O imports them, go have a look there.

Re: Whats wrong with Savage Rifles?
they do have F ugly bolts - ugly enough that I neither ask for them to be brought forward to handle when shopping for nor inquire what they are in regard to caliber. Just pass. I was reading though that they have many good qualities among them being short trigger or is it called bolt time ? cant recall, but they have a very short delay between trigger and actually firing. Supposedly good for accuracy ?.
