Default Norinco .22 barrel tip thread pitch

    Hi all,

I've got a Norinco .22 which already has the threaded tip on the barrel. I want to fit a Hunt Buddy silencer. Henk requires the thread pitch and diameter.

Can someone assist with this info? I've Googled this and found 1/2 20, but have no idea what this means.

    Thanks

This means half inch diameter, threaded twenty threads per inch.

That would mean that the diameter of the thread is half of an inch, and the pitch or amount of threads over a one inch length is 20 , that would be a 1/2 inch UNF Thread, hope it helps a bit.

In the absence of a thread gauge:
Using a ruler up against the thread, count the number of thread crests in half an inch or 12.7mm. This should be 10 EXACTLY.
This will verify the thread pitch. The diameter can be measured with a vernier or micrometer.

Or to be safe, head to your nearest engineering workshop and ask them to measure it for you.

1/2 Inch, 20 TPI (1/2" UNF) is correct. That is the standard thread on .22's in parts of the world under British influence.

The Yanks tend to use 1/2" 28 TPI, as that is what an AR-15 barrel usually comes with.

Just checked mine and it is 1/2" UNF as well.
