    Default US Elections

Well I was just reading a forum written by guys who I have worked with and regard to the main as being normal, logical, common sense guys and discovered a few aspects which I had never thought were that close to the surface amongst normal logical common sense guys.

In the US now it appears as if gun sales are up by 30% the reason, nervousness about the upcoming elections, some are really worried about stable change of government, some are worried about firearms being confiscated, there are apparently undertones of splits in the government tantamount to or close to civil insurrection, so its not only in Africa where such worries are really big it would appear, bear in mind that although the US is a young country its an old democracy and has a positive history of a peacefull change of power, so to Ikor is this a normal aspect of US elections?
I am studying an awesome brand of leg fighting which was inspired by dung beetles and I think my brand of Kraft Manure is superior to all other styles ever invented. Furthermore I challenge all other manurists to a rolling contest where we shall establish whose manure ball is the biggest! I shall call it Honest Kraft Manure and declare it superior to all other brands of manure and will tell you that I have claimed the lineage directly to Imshi the great Dragon Kru Master Beetler who invented manuring, by gathering all manure from different animals together and making it work as the worlds most effective fertilizer. I proved myself by being members of not one but three super elite special gardening departments who were responsible for spreading manure to combat weed infestations!

Well, I suppose we should first define 'normal' eh?

While what is happening today may well become the 'norm' in the US it has not been thus for most of my lifetime. The division between party philosophy has become a chasm and...at the moment at least...there really do seem to be 'two Americas'. Even with Kerry I did not see this level of division, and that was a very divided race. So I understand completely where your friends are coming from and to some degree feel the same. I, however, already have more than I will need should things go in the toilet for gun owners and shooters. I would not put too much stock in rumors of widespread serious civil disturbance to the point of civil insurrection, but some riots and bad behavior would not surprise me all that much, and if I did NOT have more than I would ever need, I, too, would be buying now. As someone once said...'Civilization is a thin sheet of ice over a very deep and stormy sea'.

    ikor,

So what are your predictions on the outcome of the election? I wanted to start a poll about two weeks ago but thought it would not be interesting enough.

On GlockTalk about every third thread is about the election and or Obama. I feel as if I know the US election situation better than the SA one by now ;D

Well, understand that I am no expert in any way, shape or form, but I believe McCain will win it. The 'mainstream media' is, as always, in the tank for the ultra socialists, so all the average guy hears or sees is 'Obama'...by design...but much of Obama's support will simply not vote (college kids and others as well) and many Hillary supporters are really pissed off at the Obamaholics too. Some will vote 'R' while others will stay home. Watch the polls the last week before the election as that is the ONLY time they make a real effort to be accurate, but in the end I think common sense will prevail and Obama will be out...but then again...46 million people DID vote for Kerry and he was an absolute joke as well...sigh...reckon we will see soon enough. I read an interesting thing recently on something called the Robinson effect or something similar (or I could have the name completely wrong). What it boiled down too was that people will give polls the PC answer even if they feel differently and intend on voting differently.

If I may hazard a guess, it's probably because of his anti-gun record. He wants to ban CCW country wide and supports retarded micro stamping legislation.

Also, there is doubt as to wether or not he is a natural US citizen.

He is, IMO, beyond being a socialist...which itself is bad enough. He is a Marxist and has ties to various individuals and organizations that are anything but pro-US. Al;l politicians are liars, as it is the nature of the beast, but this one can't even keep all his lies straight. He knows full well he cannot even come close to fulfilling half his promises, but I have no doubt he will attempt to tax the Hell out of the working public to 'redistribute wealth'. I detest him and all his ilk. That clear things up a bit for ya? ;D

It does. I'm hoping that his plans will revolve more around undoing the ridiculous tax breaks given to individuals and companies in the highest income brackets by Bush and generally reversing the damage done by the Bush government.
