I was wondering why both the A Frames seem to have lost a segment. I went back and dug up a pic of a SAF 400g bullet used on a big wildebeest bull quartering to at about 80m out of the same rifle. You can see a ridge on the surface which is an exaggeration of a line that the top of the ramp puts in the bullet when I close the bolt. It may be that it creates a weakness when the bullet impacts and the same has happened on the bullets pictured above…

I would seriously try to figure out where it's going wrong. This kind of thing causes jams.
Slow motion photography might be a great help in figuring it out. Lots of modern cell phones have the ability to do this.

Interesting, I have never really thought about this happening. What action is your rifle built on?

It’s a CZ 550 magnum action out of their custom shop. The “kink” doesn’t stop cycling but it leaves an impression on the meplat. I’m overseas for a while but when I’m reunited with my rifle next month I’ll take a photo of a cycled round.
