Re: Bullet performance data base
When you recover a partition, its easy to understand why its such a good bullet.

Re: Bullet performance data base
Did you weigh the bullet? Has the front lead core separated from its jacket?

Re: Bullet performance data base
Nothing to do with hunting but it might be of interest to those that carry Winchester Ranger T ammo in their handguns. I used my Glock 43 to kill a large chacma baboon male in a cage trap. The cartridge used was a 9mmP Ranger T, 147gr, which chronies at 940fps out of my handgun. The baboon (30kg) was hanging on the opposite fence of the trap ±4 meters away, facing away from me. The bullet hit it in the spine between the shoulders and was recovered under the skin on the sternum. Recovered weight 137gr (93.2%).

Re: Bullet performance data base
Two years ago, a troop invaded a lodge on the reserve causing R60k worth of damages. Ambushing them, which we sometimes do, is a time consuming job, if you have other work. A cage only needs checking every afternoon. Once you got them in the cage, you can either shoot them or let them go again. Not really a third workable alternative. And no, I do not enjoy doing it. Sadly no job consist of only doing the things you like. Baboons are intelligent, they can also be extremely cruel.
Perspective is a funny thing. For years I swore that I would not be able to shoot a dog. Then a neighbor's Jack Russel and Ridgeback got into a kraal full of Angora kids. After seeing the results and after putting a dozen surviving but mutilated kids out of their misery, shooting those two dogs was surprisingly easy.
