Rooftop Tents
I am considering buying a rooftop tent for my old D/C Hilux SFA.
If any of you have advice on makes, installation, what to stay away from etc., it would be much appreciated.
Iknow howling moon and hannibal as good makes and I am not keen on a clam shell design.
What sort of prices should I expect to pay for a decent condition second hand RTT?
Thanks.

Re: Rooftop Tents
Mix, I have a feeling you might find quite a few second-hand. I have sold mine too. My reason was that I really did not like breaking up camp every single time the car had to move.

Re: Rooftop Tents
I hear you Proudprado. My idea is to escape with my wife to the bush for a quick one night trip. Ideally we would like to do a decent 4x4 course and then camp for the night before leaving the next day. We can't leave the little ones with Nana for too long... I did also buy two Bushtec 3 man pop up tents at the Getaway...
Incidentally, are you the same Proudprado on the hilux forum?

Re: Rooftop Tents
Nope, not on the Hilux forum. I was on the Land Cruiser forum.

Re: Rooftop Tents
My rtt was the best thing I ever bought. They are great to sleep in and quick to pack up. If you prefer setting up a camp and having the vehicle free, put it on a trailer. Hannibal is my choice. But there are others. The clamshell one (impi) is a faster one to pack up if you want that sort of thing.

Re: Rooftop Tents
I love the idea of a rtt. Ideal for a quick getaway to Matroosberg in the phone forest after scaling their summit. With the kids so small a one nighter is all we get and I do fancy a mattress to sleep on! I looked at the impi but I'm not a fan.
I await details of a rtt from a mate so will see.
Thanks
