Late season Eland Bull
Hi Ladies and Gents.
I can finally do a bit of bragging with the Eland Bull that has been evading me for a while.
This is a Eland Bull which I had paid for and just could not get close enough to on 2 other occasions.
So last Friday I took a chance and drove out to the farm and spent most of the morning glassing the hills to find where this bull was hiding.
Saw him at about 9 and after a whole lot of running around finally got to take a shot at 12,00 at around 170 meters.
Nice bull but no record breaker either.
Rifle is Howa 30,06
Loaded with 180 gr Barnes
He went about 120 meters after 3 good shots and one poor one.

Very nice. Congrats!!
Out of interest, judging from the terrain in the pic. Did it take a while to get it onto the van? ;)

Thanks for the comments gents.
Yes when I shot him I knew we were in for a long recovery.
It does not look like it, but it was a relatively big hill and it took 7 off us more than 2 hours to get close enough to load on bakkie.

Howzit my boet,
flip, I am both jealous but immensely proud of your achievement. You have wanted that puppy for a while so well done. Clearly the EC but who's farm and which area?
Did you always have that girl silencer on? Looks like a new addition from the last time we hunted?
Cheers

Hey Andrew
It's been a while, long time no chat.
Thanks for the nice comments, I think you need to admit that you are getting old now. I see altzeimers is setting in, always had the girly silencer.
Yes it took me a few years to finally get my Eland, but as they say "aanhouer wen"
I got the bull on Juan Nell's farm just outside Alicedale.
I hunt there once or twice a year.
It's a stunning farm and really good ppl, but then again aren't all Ooskaapers great..
When are you making an appearance in the Pe area again?
Regards.
