Malinois Breeders in GP
Hi guys/girls
I am looking for good reputable Malinois breeders in the Gauteng area that I can contact. My wife and I are looking at acquiring another dog and after she ruled out another Rottweiler, I suggested a Malinois as the one Malinois we know is an amazing dog.
I would like to visit a couple of these breeders and get a feel for these dogs and what they are like. Speaking to people that know the breed as I have no experience with them will help a lot.
Thank you.

Do they suffer from any serious defects?

Chat to SSP about land sharks.
Also as I understand it they're a full time gig. You need to put serious work in.

Yeah I have family members with some. Seems like it is a calling, but then anything worthwhile requires work.

You must be mad.
These dogs require more work than your full time job.
My friend brought his newly acquired 7 week old pup to my place on Friday evening. What a stunning animal. Cost 35K
Paid via donation from a lady in the USA for the Anti Rhino Poaching team.
Will be trained specifically for the tracking of people.

Re: Malinois Breeders in GP
Maligators are great dogs. They are, however, not for everyone. Most people do not have the will or the time that they take to train and work - and they do need to work.
Gardens and Malinois don't really go hand in hand - you can have one or the other.
They need a firm handler, preferably one who is experienced. Mishandled they will easily come up your line and fuck you up. Cops in the US have had to go on permanent disability after their KNPV titled imports told them what they thought of them and their prong collar.
If your experience is with training a Rottweiler you are going to have a hard time with a Mal. Rottweilers are calm as a coma in comparison.
Most people looking for a shepherd type dog that will primarily be a pet will be far better served with a GSD. (Preferably one that isn't from from one of the eastern euro lines).
They are, as a rule, very intelligent and, as a result, are easily bored. This leads to destructive behavior. Mine likes to shred clothes, shoes, or full 2 litre colddrink bottles. Empty coke cans too if you aren't looking. Her brother eats tires for fun.
High prey drive leads to conflicts with cats and small dogs.
They bark - a lot.
You tube has plenty of videos about why you shouldn't get a Maligator.
Demand to see your prospective puppy's sire and dam's HD certificates. Do not support breeders who breed dogs with poor hips. As a rule, they are pretty robust but with the film Max coming out expect to see puppy mills churning out Malinois to the detriment of the breed.Cattle die, kindred die, every man is mortal:
But I know one thing that never dies,
the glory of the great dead.

Re: Malinois Breeders in GP
Thanks SSP. This is the feedback I was looking for. Seems a Malinois is not going to work for us. I love my garden and I love my Dachshund.
We will look at GSDs and maybe Groenendaels as well.
We had our hands full with the Rott in order to get her to what we expect from our dogs, Malinois' sounds like too much dog for us to handle.

Re: Malinois Breeders in GP
SSP what is your experience and view of the Sportline GSDs? I have been working with Shannon Mackay a bit lately and she has a pup she is training. Even he looks like a lot of dog to handle.
Thinking of getting one in a year or so so want to start doing my research.
