A well-known criminal suspect died and an elderly farm owner is in a serious condition after being shot three times during a dramatic armed robbery at a farm on the outskirts of Port Elizabeth late yesterday.
The 74-year-old owner of the farm Brakkenfontein in the greater Greenbushes area, Kobus du Toit, was last night in a serious but stable condition in a Nelson Mandela Bay hospital.
This was after he, his 72-year-old wife and an employee were attacked by four men shortly before 4pm

Dont matter how you get them dead. Hopefully the one he thinks he shot also expires somewhere. In this useless governed country, it's the only justice system that works.

Give the uncle some witblits so he can get better in a jiffy, then a bells

You wonder why a "well known criminal suspect" is not behind bars. I hope the farmer gets well soon.

Second incident in the area in as many weeks. A man in his late 50's was murdered in the previous incident. Port Elizabeth's only range is in Greenbushes.

    Got to be honest.

Whenever I go the the range there, I look around as I drive through the area. I see the houses on the smallholdings, covered with every conceivable burglar bar, and I imagine how it must be inside one of those isolated houses at night. And I think to myself: "I would not have the nerve to live here".

And even during the day, I don't go there on my own. I always take a buddy with when I go shooting. An armed buddy.

    It's scary there.

Yeah, the range is definitely not safe alone - you have to at least be two people or more.

And I agree, I think about the same thing when I drive there - as nice as a smallholding might seem, it's a life of fear I reckon.
