At around 19:50 this evening the Marshall Security control room received a call from a member of the public reporting a house robbery in progress in Welwitschia Avenue, Glen Anil and that shots had been fired.


Our first vehicle stood off one minute after the first call and found two suspects who had been shot, they were advised that there was a third suspect on the scene so they searched the back of the property and found him, they disarmed the third suspect who was carrying a colt pistol and had also been shot.


The two suspects that were found at the front of the house later passed away due to the nature of their injuries, the third suspect was removed by ambulance under police guard but subsequently passed away. A fourth suspect is believed to have escaped.


Four suspects, all armed with hand guns had derailed the front driveway gate and forced the front lounge door open with a crowbar and confronted a female resident. A Glen Anil resident and former police officer saw what was happening and confronted the suspects. They fired at him and he returned fire hitting all 3 suspects.


The suspects had arrived on the scene in a blue Golf 7 GTI, The vehicle was found to have been hijacked from Chatsworth last month and upon inspection was found to contain a blue light and house breaking implements such as crow bars and bolt cutters, three firearms were recovered on the scene from the suspects.


Very well done to the member of the public for getting involved and placing himself at risk to stop the suspects.

Well done to this man! I don't think this will deter anybody whatsoever, but at least there are 3 less BG's running around. Maybe, just maybe, this will also inspire someone else to change from a 'victim mentality' to a 'fighter mentality'.
