Which Spyderco for EDC

I recently lost my browning pocket knife which I also carried for general purposes. I am now in a situation where I need to buy a new knife. I see that takelot has special on Spyderco for the tenacious and delica 4.

The delica is about R 300 more than the tenacious - what is the big differnec.

I want a smooth edge knife, because it will sharpen easier.

So if you had to choose which one should it be and for what reason?

How'd you lose it?

I just lost one of my leathermans. In a backpack stolen at a festival :(

Went to visit my parents on the farm. Put the knife on the knight stand, went hunting during the morning and when we packed up on Sunday it was nowhere to be found. Been back to my parents house now twice and it has not turned up yet.

I am a little bit irked. I have had the knife since 2009

The Delica is smaller: shorter blade and handle with less overall length, but it has the better blade steel. It is a handy size for almost everybody for EDC at 71g. It is really a delicate knife.

The Tenacious is bigger: longer blade and handle with more overall length and it weighs 117g. The height of the handle could make it difficult to EDC. When I first held it, I thought it was a huge knife but it due to the shape and not the actual size.

Hi.

There are two very different knives you are comparing. The tenacious is made in China. has an 83 mm blade and a G 10 handle. This makes it a thicker knife for EDC. A bit more comfortable to use in my opinion. the steel is a local Chinese steel and overall the blade quality is not comparable to the Delica.

The Delica has an Frn handle which means it is narrower and more comfortable to EDC. It has a VG 10 knife steel which is the Japanese steel and of good quality. The blade however is only 73 mm long.

The Delica will not print in your pocket. It is so slim you will not feel it there. The tenacious due to its G 10 handles is thicker and more substantial.

Ideally you should try to handle both to see how that will fit in your hand and if you're comfortable with them.

Failing that try to do a size comparison to your last browning edc seeing as you were comfortable with that.

Personally I would go for the tenacious due to its value for money, The size of the blade and the belly of the blades all of which are A mid-size carry knife.

Both of them are very good. think about the points I've raised. Good luck and let us know.

Here is a comparison photo I found on the net.

The top is the tenacious the bottom is the Delica.

Obviously you are looking at PE versions so ignore the serrated and combo knife blades. Also remember the new Delica has a full flat grind blade not the sabre grind like a shown in the photo. This was just for Size comparison for you.

I've got the Endura. For comparison purposes, it's the quality (blade) of the Delica in the size of the Tenacious.

I'd go for the Delica. It might be much smaller, but it's suited for EDC and since it won't print, it's a huge +1.
My Endura doesn't really print either though, although the clip does make it stand out above my pocket.
