NORINCO TYPE 56S Muzzle Brake- anyone done it?
morning Gents
Are there any type 56 owners who have had the barrel threaded for a muzzle device?
Im quite a fan of the Bulgarian 4 piece flash hider such as the one on the "dashprod" (ARSENAL SAR M14SF) and imagine it would bark like a dog from hell (granted enough people complain about the dashprod at indoor ranges)
Anyone know who can thread a type 56s and who sells muzzle brakes/flash hiders for them?
TIA

Yip, did mine a few weeks ago.
Went with the Three % Engineering muzzle break. Got it from TacShac, they also gave me a number for a gunsmith to thread the barrel.
The break makes a huge difference, especially when rapid follow-up shots are needed.

I understand that Numenor can thread this for you too. On the plus side, you're not limited to AK specific threads / breaks.

Re: NORINCO TYPE 56S Muzzle Brake- anyone done it?
The std USA 308/7,62 muzzle device thread is not going to work on the Type 56 due to the limited barrel diameter.
I think it is probably better to stay with 14x1LH like the std AK47 muzzle thread (Swiss Arms also use it on their 55X range of rifles) then one can use all the std/available AK brakes and muzzle devices.
I guess 14x1RH would probably also be gtg but one will be limited in muzzle device options..

The Three % Engineering muzzle break comes with the standard 14x1LH thread, so just need someone to cut the barrel to match.
I'll post a picture as soon as I have mine back, it's visiting the beauty salon (DSG) for some tlc.

Re: NORINCO TYPE 56S Muzzle Brake- anyone done it?
I've seen some 7.62NATO muzzle devices and been told by others that if your gun is blank then go for the US thread, however my local smith also said there might not be enough material on my Saiga to do this to and suggests the 14x1LH for the reasons given above.
With the upswing in popularity of the AK-47 and 7.62x39mm there are more and more muzzle devices available for the 14x1LH
