Summary:

Family is eating supper at 9pm on Sunday evening in Die Wilgers (Pretoria East). Dogs start barking, daughter goes to see what they are barking about and is overpowered by two armed robbers.

Robbers force daughter back into house, instruct family to lie on the floor and start tying them up. Daughter manages to slip away, fetches the mothers gun and hands it to her. Mother shoots one robber and other robber fires back, wounding the daughter in the back. First robber dies on the scene while second robber escapes empty handed.

Daughter is in a stable condition in hospital. Firearm with serial number filed off is found on the scene. A case of housebreaking and attempted murder being investigated. The family's name has not yet been released.

This is just down the road from me and is definitely going in my "motivations" file. Much respect to both the mother and her brave daughter for their quick thinking and for fighting back and my best wishes for the daughters speedy recovery.

Good on them but just one question... They were being tied up, daughter got lose, had time to get a gun and then handed it to her mother who was being tied up/ or was tied up and she then manages to shoot one of the robbers? That story is either full of holes or incomplete.
