Ode to an old friend..
My first self defence blade was a cold steel Recon 1 Tanto style. I loved it.b

I carried it everywhere, I used it for everything(I use all my knives as often as possible, I figure the more comfortable I am with using it, the better), and I didnt even mind the teflon coating scratching off the blade, it was character..
Sadly, when I had my accident, the blade was caught in the inferno, (petrol fire) this didnt stop it though, sliding along tar and being burnt for 20 min did no real damage to this beaut!! (But living in SA, someone then came along while I was being attended to and stole it. Joy..)
So, I had to get another blade, I dont like getting the same thing to replace another, imagine you left a girl and then went out and got her twin to replace? No thanks, I prefer to try whats out there and learn from experience.. So I got myself a Zero Tolerance blade, brilliant so far, same as before, but we only been together for a short while and I still cant help but think back to my old recon.. *sigh*
Oh well, do any of you have blades that served you well? Or that you lost for whatever reason?

Yes, I have quite a few blades that have served me well...But seeing that you are talking SD blades, mine, which I have carried for over 12 years now, is a Benchmade Emerson CQC 7. Its not pretty, but its an old friend.

Very nice blade, do you prefer a blade with a bit of serration or does it not matter?
Both of my blades have had no serrations and my cold steel was a straight blade as opposed to my ZT 0200 which is curved, I feel that I prefer the curved blade, esp if I need to slash things.
I also quite like that the ZT has a space for your forefinger, dont feel like losing a finger if I stab something solid..
