Re: Johannesburg Steel Challenge - 2016
Hi Clouds
Thanx for the dates. I'm keen to stop by and come have a look. Is this beginner friendly or is there some sort of intro course that one needs to attend? Also do I need to be a club member to come shoot for the day? Furthermore what is the cost involved and the round count one needs?
*Sorry for all the questions but I am trying to get exposure to various forms of sport shooting before choosing one/ a few to stick to.
Regards
L

Re: Johannesburg Steel Challenge - 2016
If I can jump in... HJordaan, this is lots of fun. If you have ever shot a Club Shoot or League you will be fine. The costs for 2015 was R100 and the round count is usually 200 rounds but I have found that you do not get much change from 300. You do not have to belong to any specific organization or club. Pitch up with a proper holster and at least 3 mags, join a squad and have fun. As long as you are a safe shooter (safety conscious) you will fit right in. Gerrit Maritz

Re: Johannesburg Steel Challenge - 2016
Hi Gerrit
Thanx for the info. I am trying to sort my things out to come shoot in Feb. I currently only own an IWB holster which is also my EDC holster, a friend of mine has a speed/race holster (one of those with minimum hold on the gun) which I can borrow, will this holster be allowed? I have shot various shoots with SA Sportjag over the past 2 or 3 years, but this will be my first handgun event, I will be sure to bring 300-400 rounds (I do have dedicated status through NSA) to allow for enough fun to be had. Regarding safety, I see myself as a safe shooter, however if the guys are anything like those at Sportjag, I will surely get a lesson should I do anything which could compromise my own or the safety of others so I have no issues there.
*Edit: Where is the shoot held?
