Hi All
I'm looking at buying a .243 from a guy I know.
He says it is a .243 Winchester Carbine, But I have no idea what that is and I cant find anything on the net.
Is there anyone that could give me some info.
below is a picture of the rifle.
Thanks

Re: .243 Winchester Carbine
Mmm, all that carbine implies is that its a short rifle. ie generally with a barrel shorter than 18 odd inches
Your pic of a rifle does not resemble a carbine
I like Arnold's suggestion

Re: .243 Winchester Carbine
Just came across this old post of mine. if there is anyone out there that can maybe help me,
I have a Winchester Model 70 short action carbine chambered in .243.(push feed) I recently broke the rear end of the firing pin. I have been looking with no success. I am looking for either the rear piece(see below photo) or the complete firing pin.
Below is photos. I tied getting someone to try fix it but I’m assuming because it is not 100% the same they safety no longer works.
I would like to get the correct thing so I can have my firearm working correctly.

Re: .243 Winchester Carbine
I have a 1981 Win mod 70 XTR push action in 30-06. The featherlight was a more compact version. The rifle is accurate and still shoots very well. Being a 243win before buying I would have the bore checked by a Smith with a borescope. With heavy loads the barrel could be shot out after 2000 rounds. most hunting rifles never see this amount of use. If the barrel is still good its a great rifle.
They are not rare. Spares shouldn't be a problem.

Re: .243 Winchester Carbine
If you are in Gauteng or want it done quickly and correctly- phone Craig Klintworth of Mkonto Manufacturing in Florida Johannesburg.
He managed to make a new express sight and refit the rear sight island in three days! This when the other gunsmith told me to give him five to six weeks!!?

I second the recommendation of Craig. He's an operator of note.
