You will have to hunt. I can't see anyone at the SANDF emailing you (or being able to even supply) a list if everything they've ever issued.

You will most likely have to do your own research.

I saw some Vektor SP1's issued to RP's at an Infantry unit.

The special forces guys had (have?) some really interesting stuff in inventory. Colt 1911's for sure. Tokarev and Makarov most likely. Would you classify a H&K MP5K as a handgun?

Would you include revolvers as well?

The best part of building a collection is the research.

Yes. The DKL. It was often seen and was also often issued to women.

Maybe contact they guys at the air force museum and archives.

You can also include the FN Baby browning on your list. Navy used them.

My cousin is married to a rear admiral in the South African navy. I will start by emailing him to ask if he can provide a list and perhaps get someone from the sandf to answer. I will then try get letters from officers who served in the sadf. The museums are also a good idea.

I would include revolvers as well. For the moment I would leave the H&K MP5K out.

My father-in-law doesn't swear, except when talking about the Star he was issued. And he was a sharpshooter, so it's not like he didn't know which end of the gun is the dangerous one.

When I did my Open Water 1 & 2 (many years ago) our instructor was an ex 4 recce and he mentioned that they used 1911's.

So there is another bit of the puzzle for you.
