    This one was caught with the 'pap-gooi' method on heavier tackle. so there was less of the 'Yeeehaa' factor. They are big but lean. Showing her disdain, is my girl Shadow. I think a Belgian Sheepdog. Sorry for pic quality. Shit phone.

    You pretty much have to be able to see them. Sight fishing. The fly must also travel right past it's nose, but if you cast there they will be gone in a blink. Cast past them with a 'floppy' lob-cast and drag back with as little of your line touching the water, let sink when within range, and start retrieve. That is the theory.
    The one i caught was on a 'lucky' cast. I'd fluffed it and the fly landed right next to the school with a lot of slack line lying around. I was frantically trying to take up the slack when it was done for me and my reel started making very loud high-pitched noises.
    If it was not a one off fluke, i'll let you know how the next one was caught.

    Good luck, fly fishing for Carp is not easy. Try Barbel as well sometime.

    Also got my first carp on fly 3 weeks ago 5kg gave me one hell of a fight on the 6wt, also got 12 muddies and 1 catfish in the rapids here in Bloem
