    Agree, Zooks... This is just the kind of thing that raises my hackles.

    WT actual F does "raising awareness" ever accomplish.

    We have the way and the means to PREVENT RAPE in a significant number of instances, and thereby to influence a whole lot else. Why do we waste effort dicking around with soft solutions to a hard problem?

    Good question!!

    Many just rage and demand someone else protect them or "do something" "pass a law, that will fix it". "Raise awareness" is another category. This is where the GOF are critical - they have a plan to actually DO something for real. Have a real solution to a real problem. Laws don't do anything, never have. So instead of violating citizen's rights to protect themselves by penetrating their ability to defend themselves without consent, activists should concentrate on helping women defend themselves at the critical moment.

    Maybe that old alternative girls n guns thread should be moved here and those memes used by the ladies? Some really effective ones in there if I remember correctly
