    Default Boere Curry

Following up from the Potjie Pot thread, I decided to use my flat bottomed pot for Sunday's Beef Curry.

Please note that this is my personal take on curry. I do not use Bay leaves and the other traditional curry spices.

Heat some oil and fry the onions

Add some curry powder and tumeric - curry should be yellowish and not brown

Seal the meat in the onion/curry mix

    Throw in some potatoes

Next up - some green beans and carrots. Cover and cook for 1 hour

Stir and add baby marrows. leave for another hour.

    Final stir.

    Enjoy!!!

The gravy looks thin and watery. It is not. To thicken the gravy without changing the taste, grate 1-2 potatoes and add.

    Thanks for looking

JSparrow: That looks awesome - curry in a potjie pot is absolutely delicious. The potjie pot just gives the curry a completely different taste.

I personally love spices so I would have added a lot more to the mix (cinnamon, cumin, paprika, coriander), and also some garlic and chopped tomatoes which makes the curry awesome to my taste buds, however I know that the title of the thread says "Boere Curry"

I know very little about curry, and the last time I tried it... Well let's just say that the result could melt steel beams. This looks like something I might enjoy though, just go a bit easier on the curry powder... :D
