    Such a simple matter, one would think that some law official could just tell us in plain language if green licence is valid, or if we are breaking the law.... What a mess we are in.

    I was told by a senior officer that green cards can still be printed.

    I applied for a green card's reprint in 2017, and it was reprinted within 2 weeks. I find no problem to buy ammunition with it, and 2 subsequent (new) licenses were issued "despite" possession of the firearm held under the green card.

    Guys, I need some advice/guidance;

    My Dad and Mom, both in their 80s, have their white licences expired (pls i wont go into detail as why). They dont want to do new licence applications under the amnesty (dont want to hand in the FAs).

    I want to apply for licences for 2 of their FAs. Both the FAs still have green licences.

    Would I be able to apply for licences by proving legal status because of the green licences?

    Officially the answer is no, but if you don't have any other options it is probably worth a try. CFR don't really know what they are doing with this whole amnesty thing anyway so you might get lucky if you have a cooperative DFO and it gets past all the other steps without anybody stopping it.

    The only other possibility I can think of is that you might be able to find a gunshop somewhere that is on good terms with a cooperative DFO willing to bend the rules but the chances there are also slim.

    If you really want to keep the firearms the surest way is to persuade your parents to go through the process of submitting new licence applications and handing in the firearms for testing. (I guess you would need to do all the paperwork and running around for them). Once they have their new "legal" licences, you could then apply for licences as if you were buying the guns from your parents.
