Default Gun shop sales staff question

    Hi
Are the sales staff of a gunshop required to be registered as Dealers in terms of the Act?
Can the local DFO insist on it?
    Thanks

Please pay some attention to spelling, grammar and punctuation. There is a huge difference between a gunship (the word you originally used in your title) and a gun shop.

Gun shop staff have to hold business competencies. Once they hold a business competency, they are then listed on the dealer's register. If they do not hold a business competency, they cannot operate as staff in the sense of being able to handle the firearms, have access to the firearms, et cetera (as opposed to being, for example, accounting staff).

They are required to have a competency to trade certificate (card).

I was led to believe that business comps are not needed to get a competency to trade, one only needs normal competency to handle.

There's a difference between handling a firearm for sales purposes and using a firearm for business purposes.

You are correct. I should have referred to a competency to trade.

Don't you need a letter of employment from a gun shop to get a comp to trade? Bit of a catch-22, or am I missing something?

I had to get 1 from the shop when I applied for my Com to Trade. One weekend a month is worth all the while.

Nope not when I did it.

All 4 business training certificates and normal competency stuff like pics, testimonials etc and apply.

I know someone that works in a shop that had a comp to trade but no business comps.....so there was a time they didnt ask for it.

A couple years ago you could do instructors without business, but now you need it.....but can do it at the same time.
