6.5 creedmoor thoughts
Hey guys! Im looking to buy a 6.5mm rifle which would be used for target shooting and hunting.im leaning towards a 6.5 creedmoor Howa 1500 heavy barrel.I do have a 243 and 30-06 also.my 30-06 is about the most i would like to tolerate when it comes to recoil.Does anybody here own a 6.5CM Howa and would like to share anything about this rifle.

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
I own a 6.5 Creedmoor Ruger Hawkeye. I also own 3 Howas. I don't think you will make a mistake with the Howa, I would have bought one if they were available at the time.
I assume you reload? Factory ammo is not very common in SA. Great calibre and easy to reload for.

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
Watching this thread with interest.
6.5mm Creedmoor is exactly the caliber I am looking at.
I want to buy a new rifle and reload as well, so looking at all info on Creedmoor I can find.
Cheers.

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
Why a 6.5 Creedmoore rather than a .260 Remington?

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
Why not a creedmore? Im not being rude by asking that, just trying to get reasons why it would be a bad choice.when the 260Rem was first introduced in South Africa most people thought we would have problems with components to reload,me included but that calibre has really taken well for alot of people and components are readily available.Reason i chose to go with creedmoor is just alot of research and it seems to be a slight design improvement over the 260Rem,velocity aside as that goes to the 260 but not so much extra velocity to dance about.

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
much of a muchness.
I went with .260 Rem because I wanted a Tikka Super Varmint and they don't make it in 6.5 Creedmoor.
if I wanted a Savage LRP which is available in both cal...prob go with the Creedmoor.
more modern design 30 vs 20 deg shoulder angle/shorter shoulder/less brass growth?
Howa heavy barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor is a solid choice. go for it!

Re: 6.5 creedmoor thoughts
I love my 6.5CM, I have the Ruger Target/Varmint. A bit heavy for hunting but it shoots better than I can. I use it for target and hunting. Only hunted once with it so far, 2 Impala and 1 Blesbuck. All 3 one shot kills no issues, mainly cause I trust where I aim, I hit.
