Biltong that dried out too much - help please
Hi Everyone
I have some Nyala biltong and dry wors that I let dry out too much. The biltong is rock hard and the dry wors not far behind.
Is there any way that I can remedy this, maybe re-hydrate it somewhat without nasty consequences?
Otherwise I can powder the biltong (suggestions on how to do this in bulk welcomed!), but what to do with the very dry wors?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Hard venison biltong is very nice with some real butter. My father in law taught me this as he grew up in Namibia and in those days you could not freeze the perfectly dried/moist biltong so it got real hard. They used to break it into pieces with a hammer.
As for the dry wors. eat it slowly.

Wrap the biltong in an old kitchen towel and whack it with a hammer. Adding moisture and then popping it on the braai is then also easier. Never thought about butter before like The Beast mentioned, but it sounds awesome. I used to use a drop of olive oil and then put it over high heat on the braai for a minute or two. It changes the taste completely and is an excellent snack while waiting for the coals to get ready.
Dry wors is nice when it's dry. No idea what you can do with it, though.

I can definitely second the whack-with-hammer method, it is really enjoyable and the biltong strips literally tear off. Baie lekker!
I also love Toxxyc's idea of the braai snack - never thought of that and will certainly give it a try!

Biltong on the braai is my favourite. Nice thick fat strip is a must.
Can just feel my arteries clogging up as I think about it.
Stay Bladed.

Shred it up and mix it into home made cheese spread.

what would happen if you put it back in Biltong dryer or suitable cupboard.
Put kettle in, put kettle on and let it steam inside for a bit.
Wondering if the dried meat and biltong wont hydrate again.
