Weihrauch HW97K advise
Afternoon gents.
Need some advise from air rifle shooters.
I have just purchased the above mentioned rifle.
I consistently shoot R5 sized 10 shot groups at 30m.
I feel that the rifle should shoot better. Is this rifle a better shooter than that or is that group size representative of the rifle?
I have tried 4 different pellet brands. rifle prefers heavier pellets it seems as the diablo match monster gives me the best results.

Re: Weihrauch HW97K advise
There are one or two members here that might give you some better advice, but I shot that rifle in competition for a while, so here goes:
1. It's a springer. It wants to be resting in your hand, not on a bench or bench rest.
2. Springs and top hats break. I had to replace at least one of the two every 2000 shots.
3. It's hard on 'scopes. Check that you have the right one. For air rifles.
4. Heavy pellets are not the answer. But premium pellets are. JSB and Air Arms worked for me. If you want a few to test, I might have left that I could bring to Witbank.
4. Practice, practice and practice. The main problem with this rifle is not the rifle. It's the mutt behind the butt.
Enjoy, it really is fun when you get it right. And a R5 coin at 30m is not bad. 50mm ad 50m is the standard.

I've read good things about the Hawks, but never used them myself.

You say they dont like a bench. Whats the reason for that. Does it have to do with how it recoils?

Yes, remember there are two bumps with a springer. Once when you pull the trigger when the spring starts moving forward and then again when it hits the front of the tube. For some reason it is really difficult to keep that constant off the bench. In my experience, anyway.

Re: Weihrauch HW97K advise
What caliber HW97K and pellet weights are you using? I group about 1-1.5 cm at 30M off the bench no problem and all day long. There may be other issues to consider like the following:
1) Have you cleaned the barrel as there is lots of rubbish in a new air rifle barrel?
2) Are you pulling the air rifle stock into your sholder hard? If so don't
3) Support the stock with an open flat hand, dont grip the fore part of the stock
4) Squeese the trigger, dont pull
5) Follow through on all shots
6) Are you looking directly down the centre of the scope for each shot, this can make a huge difference
7) Did you zero the scope at max magnification as this is best

Re: Weihrauch HW97K advise
1) Have not cleaned the barrel. will do so.
2) not hard, but try to get a consistent hold on the rifle.
3) had it on a X-bag, no support with left hand.
4) I think I have the trigger down. I do a lot of rifle shooting.
5) Doing my best, but I think this might be where the problem lies.
6) I am, confirmed the parallax through the scope, not on the readings on side knob.
7) I did.
Think I must clean the barrel and work on follow through then.
Using JSB field target 8.33gr and and diable monster match 13,--gr (gives best results)
With my PCP I can hold 10 round 1cm groupings consistently at the same distance.
