    Default Recent kills.

Here are a few photos of some game I hunted last week/weekend.
Limpopo province.I used my .308 CZ550 with 20" Hart barrel on all the animals except the last pig.The scope is a March 2,5-25x42 with tactical turrets..All were hunted by traditional walk and stalk except one pig, that was shot lying in ambush over a lucern field.
Bullets used were 150gr Woodleigh Protected Points doing around 2750fps if I can recall my chrony loads from last year.I will take pics of the three recovered bullets and put them in the bullet performance thread.I recovered bullets out of both elands and one pig.
Eland bull was the first to fall.Shot was around 200.Quatering away.Bullet was recovered in the left opposite shoulder under the skin.

This was my shooting position for the eland after a exiting walk and stalk.I took the photo after the shot, after watching the bull go down after around 60m.

I shot this pig in the bush at close quaters. The March was turned down to 3x.Bullet entered in head and recovered somewhere in a shoulder.

This impala ram was shot at 155m of shooting sticks.

I then shot this eland cow.Shot was 230m.She dropped on the spot from a high shoulder shot.
When I got to her,she stank terribly, especially from the rear end.Upon slaughter we found that she had a dead and dried out calf in her. This baffles me because her condition looked good. The bullet was recovered in her opposite shoulder.

This was my shooting position. It was the third attempt. After a dueling effort spent on my backside and knees I managed to reach a shootable position.

This pig then fell to a shoulder shot.No bullet recovery. It also dropped on the spot.Shot over shooting sticks at around 150m I guess.

Then the last pig, shot with my jackal culling rifle at 162m.The 58gr V-max@3940fps entered in just behind the left ear and exited in a mess on the otherside.Howa action,Krieger barrel,March 2,5-25x52 scope.Shot off bipod.

    Good hunting G.

On what setting do you use the scope on such short distances?
Do you play around with the parallax before shooting?

I ask only because I know you are a professional, and would like to know what suits you best under those conditions.

Hallo Messor. To be honest,I set the parallax the weekend before and did not bother much after that.On all my March scopes, even the ones I use exclusively in the night,I set the magnification up to about 14x and the set the paralax to that at about 150m.Then dialing the magnification down from there leaves the paralax ok for me.Should I say go up to 25x then I would tweak it a little. The March has a very very sensitive adjustment knob and it only has to move a tiny bit to adjust quite a bit.I shot the eland cow at 12x at 230m.That one pig was about 40-50m away and I just wound the scope down to 3x,ignoring the paralax totally.
    Regards.
PS:I am certainly not a pro.
