Default Dad's 60th. Please point me to a good knife maker.

Hi guys. Got my dad's 60th birthday coming up at month end and would like to get him something special. He loves custom knives. Something with a damascus blade would be great. Thanks all

    Fixed blade? Folder? Traditional? Modern?

For a traditional folder I can recommend Willie Paulsen in PE but 3 weeks is not enough for a custom knife to your specification.

Marthinus van Wyk makes wicked gentleman's folders.

    MWVW knives

I especially like his model one. Think Chris Reeve Sebenza. Maar mooier.

Thanks for the tips. I would look at current stock. Not imperative to have it made.

    Heavin Forge
    NWKnives

Some are specialised in a certain direction, others not.

How about a good old cutthroat - just to add a nice touch of "something else?"

Maybe have a look at https://saknives.co.za/

Bought a Damascus folder from them and I'm quite pleased.

Dave Skinner in PE makes phenomenal knives. I own 2 and will soon get another.

Heather and Kevin of Heavin Forge are iirc the only ABS recognized forge in SA.

    Just some useless info ;)
