Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
I love it, think it looks great! I have a suggestion, but it's not related to the knife - get better lighting when taking pictures. A bright, overcast day makes for excellent pictures, otherwise a bright light in a room works well as long as it doesn't throw shadows on the object you are photographing. Even a cellphone camera works better when simple rules are followed! Better pictures also makes the product look better... :)
Oh, a final note after looking again - the last little bit of the blade, not the tip, is it sharpened there?

Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
It looks to be a skinner, correct?
5160 is a fine steel to use, especially when it is well tempered. It keeps an edge and acquires a blue colour with age.
6mm steel is too thick for a knife blade in my opinion, but that is personal choice and down to the purpose of the knife.

Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
Thank you very much guys.
@Toxxyc, I'm busy making a lightbox for better pictures, George doesn't always play the game when I want to take photos. And yes the entire edge is sharp, this is a prototype so I may change that. But it is well clear of your fingers.
@ Ds J, It is a multi purpose knife, not my favorite type of knife but I design I wanted to try. The idea is you can do most chores with it including splitting wood, but to me it is more of a skinner, correct. 6mm is a bit thick but I wanted a solid almost unbreakable knife.

Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
I like the style a lot, short broad blade, typical of the skinners. yes, 6mmm is axtremely heavy for a skinner, 4-4.5mm in my opinion is max thickness. As a general purpose knife the short blade might become a handicap, but it should be strong even under the worst abuse...
I would have a bit of a non-sharpened blade right before the finger guard. just in case...
but still, despite the comment, I like it a lot!

Very nice. The jimping is a bit large but still a very well put together blade.
Stay Bladed.

Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
Thank you for the comments guys,
It was an interesting project, but I believe from this knife 2 will be born. I will make one similar but with a thinner steel as a skinner and a longer one for general purpose/bushcraft.
@Mr Medic: I agree the gimping is a bit big, it is quite comfortable in the hand but it is a change I will make.
@ Quake: make an offer, as I said it is a prototype. I have one person who is keen on this design but I will only make these on order.

Re: Thoughts on this knife I made
I don't want to insult you... Lol, I really have no idea what a custom knife is worth, I have a few Kershaw blades, by some people's standards they are cheap rubbish..
There really isn't a way I could value it, pm me a number, let's see if I can afford it, especially since I bought an old Beretta 71 as a project today..
I do think it's beautiful, a bit big to edc, but for when I'm in the Bush..
