Dr.s Fackler and Roberts testing shows that 45 outperforms 9x19 and 40 through barriers. Not by a very large margin but better nonetheless

It does follow that greater bullet mass would result in greater retained effectiveness after penetrating a barrier.
My apologies for putting this thread in the 'wrong' place - my view was that since the article discussed that nature of handgun effectiveness in general rather than specific loads etc it belonged under Handguns.
