Would still like one of these as a last resort.

    I know somebody...
However, the sheath will most likely be leather.

Will leather retain the same as Kydex?

You wont regret it. Your last ditch blade should never ever be a folder.

I know someone in Cape Town making a similar blade, slightly more curved and the tip isn't in line with the center of the grip like that one but it is close.

Knife with G10 scales or impregnated paracord wrap, trainer, 3rd version of the blade and sheath for around R2k.

No. Kydex is quite a hard material with little flexibility. It retains by "clicking" onto a certain protruding part of the knife, or from being a tad too small and having a friction hold. Leather is soft and pliable compared to Kydex and retains with a snug, tight fit over a larger part of the knife.

No but Mr Dunns blades are beautiful and one may look like that. I was thinking of the Suarez SA knife.

    Hi

I am looking to get an EDC knife for my wife and a friend, for the wife I'm thinking the bear claw or something similar hand bag knife! and a friend she's small lady but very fit and strong dose a lot of outdoor running, trail running type stuff, we had dinner the other night and the subject came up of personal self defense/protection while she is out training. she runs with a mace/pepper spray at the moment but don't think that's enough anymore or ever was.

The bear claw style I think would be a better fit in a hand bag.

Would the spike be a good option for carrying on ones person while training or is there something else you guys could suggest. I am going to see if they will be keen to do some SD classes as well.

EDC guns not in the equation as yet but working on it.

    Regards
    Anthony
