CZ 550 30-06 Ebony

So after years of hunting with my fathers rifle (Sako 30-06), and recent relocation to Cape Town, I decided to purchase my own rifle.
With a budget of R10k-R14k I was looking at a few options, mainly with synthetic stock and in 308 calibre.

I was on the point of paying for a Howa, which I really liked, when the sales person decided to "quickly" show me the CZ 550 30-06 Ebony 😒

Before showing me I made it clear that the price, just shy of R20k, were out of my budget (still had to buy a decent scope).

My @&$&$@, did he ruin my budget and probable my relationship!!!! What an awesome looking gun, and chambered in a calibre I grew up with.

Now licensing and planning next years hunt!

is there any other members that bought the same rifle? And your thoughts on it?

Congrats on the buy!

I cannot answer your question directly but I have heard only one single complaint about the CZ 550: "They don't break!"

Rudib, I looked at a wide variety of scopes (Vortex, Leupold, Rudolph Optics) but went with one that I never thought I would choose: Lynx LX2 2.5-15x50 (Nato turrets). Main reason for my choice were the glass clarity and focus and the type of reticle.

I also bought one PW, awaiting the licence. My thoughts on it? Must be the most beautiful rifle I have ever seen!!!

tobie I agree 100% with you, I was not going to buy it, but after seeing it I wanted nothing else.

Also awaiting my license now, cannot wait to test it out. Already planning my hunting trips for next year!

I've got one. Haven't taken it hunting yet, just to the range for sighting and paper-punching.

Handles beautifully, really comfortable stock.

Looking forward to taking it hunting.
