The minimum ethical caliber for BWB is the caliber your wife can really shoot well with and is super comfortable taking shots with in all hunting conditions at her comfortable shooting distance! This caliber is......wait for it...a 7x64!!! Just kidding! The caliber is the one that the farmer says is the minimum on HIS farm with well constructed bullets

It's the driver that counts, not the bus.

You can't go wrong with that option, loaded with a 120g TTSX with 50g of S355, will give you a nice low recoiling round that the wife can handle and it will still drop anything from Springbok to Eland.

Yes, each caliber has got it's place and some better for some situations. But generally most calibers get the job done. I've myself fallen into the trap of over thinking calibers and buying a bunch.

But having spent some time with folks who hunt allot, I realized they don't nearly waist as much energy nitpicking and fussing what they shoot with. And some of them can afford any gun they like, but standardize and shoot animals dead. Close and far, big and small..

So fully agree with: Shooter skill – Shot placement – Bullet design – Caliber
