    Default Pigeon shooting Ireland

It taken me a while to get this video made as I haven't had time. However, this video is from the 27th September 2016, an outing on barley stubble.

When I arrived at the fields the trees just exploded with pigeons, so I had a feeling it was going to be a great day. The wind was very strong and I only had one option on where to put the hide and unfortunately it meant the wind was in my face. This made for great shooting as some of the birds were shot going over my head with the wind. At times the wind was so strong that it was difficult to keep the hide up.

The most action came after lunch when the pigeons just starting decoying much better.

This was my first ever solo red letter day on pigeons and I packed up as soon as I reached the milestone. I probably could have stayed on another couple of hours & got another 20 or 30, but I had enough fun by that stage.

Thanks for watching, make sure & stay tuned to the end for the bloopers section!!!

    Thanks for the video Ollie.
I'm interested in the 3 Magpies shot.
They seem to be some kind of crow?
    Are they considered a pest?
    Are they edible?
    Please tell us more.

    Hi willie thanks for watching.

All the birds shot in this video would be considered pests; however, magpies are really hated as they destroy songbirds nests & can peck the eyes out of newborn lambs. They aren't edible.

Woodpigeons are more of an agricultural pest, they are very fond of eating farmers crops but they are edible, all of them were breasted & will make there way in sausage or burgers.

Thanks peter. I do edit out some of the misses as the video would have been too long. But at the end of the video I have the blooper section with my worst misses lol.

Ollie, I mentioned 'misses' as around here, anybody who shoots 50% or better on Rockies is having a fine day.

Peter, that's what we keep telling the newbies, just so that they do not get discouraged

Apparently down in the Cape it's 1 in 4

Ollie, it looks like you are living the life of a gentleman, enjoy.
